At the end of each year and the beginning of the next, I always look back at each month, pick out the “big thing” that would characterize it, and ponder how God used it in our lives. Even if it is something “not good,” I always come to the same conclusion – God was faithful to us in it and through it. Sometimes life is hard. But always God is faithful.
I can’t help but wonder what God has in store for the 12 months ahead. Whatever it is, one thing will hold true: God will be faithful. No matter what, God will be faithful. Whether or not I think He’s fair, I can rest in knowing that He will be faithful.
Because of God’s total faithfulness, we can do two things to insure that we don’t miss a single good thing He has planned for our next 12 months. These two things can be summed up in six words. Personally, I think that if we would do these two things – just six words – our lives would be lived to the fullest, deepest, and richest in the Lord. Want to know what those two things and six words are?
Trust The Lord.
Obey The Lord.
Every thing else that we could think of to do or not to do this year could actually fall into this category.
Whatever it is that The Lord reveals to us to do or not to do – to start or to give up – to say or not to say – to think or not to think – If we would make it our goal to simply trust and obey Him, those two actions will cover every life event, crossroad, and need that will arise. Then no matter what it is, day by day, situation by situation, If we would just trust the Lord and obey the Lord, we would have success… because we would be smack dab in the middle of His will for our lives. We can never go wrong if our aim is to simply trust and obey the Lord.
Trust The Lord.
Obey The Lord.
Two things and six words that can have an eternal impact on this new year.
“This is God‘s Word on the subject: “… I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” Jeremiah 29:10-11 (The Message)
Happy New Year, and much love to you, my friends. May the Lord be greatly glorified in all of our lives as we trust Him and obey Him in 2012!
