As we close up the year 2013, I can’t help but think of the things that will in the future be considered as Spiritual Markers of 2013 for myself and for my family. It has been a year filled with questions and answers as we’ve experienced the Lord’s provision, protection, and unfolding plan for our little family. We have needed, sought, and found God to be faith-full, and we will close out this year with gratitude. Though I don’t know all that you and your household have experienced this year, we can trust that God will not waste a single event, moment, change, or loss. He promises to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), so no matter what markers will be associated with 2013, we can head into this new year with faith that we are not doing it alone.
Thank you for being a part of Smelling Coffee. I appreciate you so very much and pray for you so very often.
Thanks also for joining me in Keeping Christ AS Christmas… Personally, I’ve had a deep time of seeking and finding the Lord during this Advent season. For the first time ever, I have really considered the truth that a life sold-out to Jesus – that life He calls to be used in the most extraordinary ways – isn’t often the life basking in worldly success. It hit me this year that sometimes lives sold out to Jesus appear to be earthly failures at worst and average-appearing lives at best. And this “high-achiever” is learning that it’s OK. Does that make sense?
This Advent season, I’ve realized that more important than pushing and praying that my children will achieve earthly success in school and their future lives, I need to pray and train them (and model for them) to be sold out to Jesus… to be people like Mary (full of faith) and Joseph (marked by obedience)… even though that might mean that they will be what the world calls “ordinary.” I will continue to seek the Lord and mull over these insights for some time…since I’m just beginning to ponder them in my heart, but this is what I’ll be taking away from this 2013 Advent season.
Older Titus-Ladies~ I’d welcome any insight you would care to share with us on that subject. 😉
Y’all be careful out there as you ring in the New Year. I love and cherish you, dear friends~ I’ll see you next year on SmellingCoffee.com. 😉
