PAUSE. It’s been the theme of the weekend as our Student Ministry has been in Disciple Now. Pause, and the why’s of the necessity of pushing the pause button, turning the focus from all that distracts to Jesus, because He is our ONLY hope of making it successfully and joyfully through this world that isn’t our home.
Our teens aren’t equipped to handle everything they are facing without Jesus.
And neither are we.
So it’s a blessed thing that we don’t have to! That’s what Jesus promises through His beautiful invitation in Matthew 11:28-30:
Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Put My yoke upon your shoulders—it might appear heavy at first, but it is perfectly fitted to your curves. Learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. When you are yoked to Me, your weary souls will find rest.
For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30
Do you need to push pause today? I do. Pause on the TV? Pause on the phone? Pause on email, Pinterest, surfing the web (do we even call it that anymore?), Pause on the multitudes of social media that drains our time dry? How about Pause on perfectionism? Criticism? Or blatant-outright-continual-exhausting sin?
The next time we feel ourselves out of focus, out of whack, and out of sorts with those around us, let’s push pause and come to Jesus and His Word. He offers to trade our burdens for His help, giving us rest, renewal, and peace.
Pause…
A blessed Lord’s day to you all~
