It’s always fun to show love and appreciation to others, but its an especially sweet treat on Valentine’s Day. Though not everyone has a “Valentine” who will gift them with chocolate and roses {or “bless” them with those Big Hunk-0-Love teddy bears and Hoodie Footie Pjs – btw, PLEASE DON’T, James!} all of us can pass along God’s love on this “day of love” in tangible ways.
How about taking anything sweet, healthy, practical, etc… whatever it is that you have to give, and attaching a card like this to it and gifting it to those who are alone this Valentine’s Day?
Or a bag or box of Conversation Hearts with a tag about God’s conversation message to us.
The above idea is from JuliaBettencourt.com. She has an entire devotional based on these hearts here.
Instructions for making a candy box cover – here.
A printable Tag with these words and verse references – here.
Aren’t these a great message to share?
BE MINE – God wants us to accept His love.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
ALL MINE – God loves us and will keep us.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. John 10:27-30
TRUE LOVE – God loves us with true love as only He can.
I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Jeremiah 31:3
LOVE ME – God wants us to love Him.
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. Luke 10:27
I’M SURE – God’s sure of His love and wants us to know we have a future with Him.
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:1-3
SWEET TALK – God’s Word is His love letter to us.
How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119:103
BE GOOD – God tells us how to love Him back.
If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15
FAX ME – God loves us so much He wants to communicate with us.
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3
Another idea: you could mix up a batch of Amy’s Valentine Mix (a sister to Amy’s Fall Mix) and attach a kind “Thinking about you today” or “Thankful for you today” note.
Amy’s Valentine Mix
Sam’s Choice brand Indulgent Mix (from Wal Mart)
pink colored M&Ms
pink candy corns
++ I think that adding chocolate covered craisins would be a great addition to this mix, too.
That’s it! Mix and enjoy.
A few other quick and creative ways to pass along God’s Love this Friday:
A package of “Extra” Gum with a note saying “God thinks you are Extra Special! Psalm 139″
A sweet note on a box of candy. See full blog post here (Super ideas on this site, btw). You can change the notes to fit the occasion.
Or tie a ribbon around an individually wrapped package of microwave popcorn and attach a note like this: “Just POPPING by to say that you are loved” or “Just POPPING by to say Hello”
On a day like Valentine’s Day, it’s not necessarily the gift that is important, but the knowledge that someone cared enough to do something to show love – that’s the real gift. A card, a note, a piece of fruit or candy… a Scripture verse… a coupon for an act of service… whatever it is that you have to share, ask the Lord who needs to know they are loved this year, and be someone’s Valentine. 😉
And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus andin [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17, AMP
