Ever wonder what God wants us to wear?

Does it really matter?  Actually, according to Colossians 3, it does.  In that passage, we’re told that God actually picked out what we are to dress ourselves in ~ since we are children of the King.  God has given us directions for being the most beautifully, appropriately, and gloriously dressed daughters and sons, princesses and princes, ladies and gentlemen. 
Wonder what He wants you to wear today?  Read this:

So, chosen by God for this new life of love,
dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you:
compassion,
kindness,
humility,
quiet strength,
discipline.
Be even-tempered,
content with second place,
quick to forgive an offense.
Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you.

And regardless of what else you put on,

wear love.
It’s your basic, all-purpose garment.
Never be without it.

And while we’re in this awesome passage, this is what God wants us to do:


Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other,
in step with each other.
None of this going off and doing your own thing.
And cultivate thankfulness.
Let the Word of Christ—the Message—
have the run of the house.
Give it plenty of room in your lives.
Instruct and direct one another using good common sense.

And sing, sing your hearts out to God!

Let every detail in your lives—words, actions,
whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus,

thanking God the Father every step of the way.

Colossians 3:12-17

The Message

That’s the kind of beauty I long to be clothed in.  Some days God’s clothes chosen for me fit better than other days.  I’ve noticed that when I haven’t “exercised” the actions mentioned above, the clothing of the Lord’s choosing is a bit uncomfortable.  But if my actions are under His authority and personal training, God’s choice of outfit de jour is comfortable and pleasant to wear.

God’s clothing choices NEVER fade, go out of style, or grow unflattering.  They are current, fashion forward, and timeless.  Let’s ask God to help us CHOOSE to dress to please Him today, and for the rest of our lives. 🙂  He won’t do it for us – we have to put it on.  I’ll choose it.  Will you?
