Christian Easter Activities

Aren’t Jelly Beans the funnest Easter treat (next to Reeses Chocolate Eggs and Cadbury Creme Eggs)? I especially like the flavors and colors available these days, and as always, the tiny ones like Jelly Bellies are my favs.

It’s easy to take a favorite Easter treat like Jelly Beans and use it to share the gospel in a non-confrontational way that even our public elementary students can freely pass around to their classmates.

Take a small ziploc snack baggie, or a crispy cellophane bag, or baby food jar and fill it with one or more of each color of Jelly Bean mentioned below. Then attach the special poem to the baggie.

OR put the jelly beans inside of a colorful plastic egg and attach the poem to the egg by tying a bow on top of the poem and closing some of the ribbon in the egg.

Jelly Bean Bark would also be a fun treat to make and give along with the Jelly Bean Poem.

However you package it, this is a fun Easter gift for children to make and give to their friends at school, church, dance, etc. And it’s also a good “happy” to give to strangers or acquaintances that touch our lives.

As you put this little gift together, think and/or talk about the wonderful truths represented by the different colors of Jelly Beans, and thank our Jesus for giving His life in death so we could live!

Red is for the blood He gave.

Green is for the grass He made.

Yellow is for the sun so bright.

Orange is for the edge of night.

Black is for the sins we made.

White is for the grace He gave.

Purple is for His hour of sorrow.

For older children or adults, here is an adaptation to each color of Jelly Bean

Red ~ the blood of Jesus that He shed.
Black ~ Our sin, His death, the final hour.
White ~ Pure and holy. The Blood’s cleansing power.
Green ~ New Life that His death brings.
Purple ~ The Royal color, A reminder that Jesus is King of Kings.
Orange ~ is for the Holy Spirit Fire that glows,
Pink ~ is for the Infilling of the Holy Spirit that your life shows.
Yellow ~ is for the Joy & Celebration that Easter Brings.
