Do you ever get a song stuck in your head? That happens to me often – but there is one song, in particular, that keeps playing loudly in my mind these days. “Trust and Obey.” Do you remember this song and the Truth it calls us to act upon?
James and I are at a stage in our lives where we have been left with almost no other choice but to do just what this song says – to obey God for today, and trust Him for tomorrow.
Come to think of it, that’s how we all should live every day of our lives.
I’ve come to the conclusion that if we really lived with obedience for today and trust for tomorrow, there would be a lot more peace in our lives – because we would hold everything more loosely. We would realize that what is a part of today, might not be a part of tomorrow – and that’s OK. I am learning that the only consistent “things” in my life are the things of the Lord. What He is doing in our lives here – He can and will do anywhere.
So, my prayer for our family – and for the many of YOU who are desperately seeking, depending upon, and waiting upon the Lord is that we all will trust and obey. There really is no other way to be happy in Jesus – but to trust and obey.
I love you and am praying right now for each of you. OBEY God for today and TRUST God for tomorrow.
When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Lord, I love You… please help me to trust and obey.
Lord, I love You… please help me to trust and obey.
Then, in fellowship sweet, we will sit at His feet
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says, we will do; where He sends, we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Lord, I love You… please help me to trust and obey.
Lord, I love You… please help me to trust and obey.
Lord, I love You… please help me to trust and obey.
Lord I love You. Please help me to trust and obey.

Jennifer, I used to teach this song to the little four year olds in BSF. And that song often pops into my head, especially lately. I think you and I are learning some of the same lessons at this season in our lives.
I want you to know I think of you and always say a prayer for you. Going through challenging times has caused me to be more compassionate and understanding of other's situations. It often takes trials for me to learn those important lessons.
