We are settled in at LeBonheur and Nathan had a peaceful rest during his sleep study. I slept next door and had a restful night, as well. They awoke us early this morning, unhooked Nate from the wall units, and are sending us down to breakfast in a few minutes. He honestly looks like he is a suicide bomber we’ve seen on Monk or Psych – he has a belt around his chest with a box attached, and what looks like a hundred wires connected to the box that run to his head. He will finish the sleep study after breakfast this morning.
Thank you so much for the prayers you have invested in us. I truly feel as if God is carrying us and we have peace.
We’ll move later on today into the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for the remainder of our time here. One of the doctors we had over the weekend will be working closely with Nathan this week. It is actually a blessing that he had the “episode” (here, they call them “events”) and could be seen while it was going on. I was concerned that it would be like having something wrong with your car, but when you take it to the mechanic, it acts just fine. So many of you are praying with us that the problem will be revealed, and I thank you for that prayer. I pray that this will be a fruitful week in every way.
Tuesday morning, I was reading in Psalm 32. Then I felt very impressed by the Lord to read Psalm 34. When I did, it was as if The Lord was saying to me, ‘This is your family’s testimony, and this is what I want you to do with it’. So, as we walk through this unknown-to-us-but-known-to-God-time, I pray that we will make it our mission to “bless the Lord at all times…”, to make our boast in the Lord, and to seek to encourage others to do the same. It’s a beautiful Psalm, especially in the Amplified version. If you want to read the whole Psalm, click here.
Before I left home, I had time to whip together one of my favorite things about fall: Amy’s Fall Mix. I’m taking a little jar of it to the coordinator here at LeBonheur – who has been so patient and kind as I have called her every day for the last 2 weeks being the squeaky wheel for my son. I hope she likes it ~ It is more than a little addictive. (I also packed some for Nate and me.) 😉
Amy’s Fall Mix has become a tradition for our family, so if you’re new to this blog, or just needed to be reminded of this awesome treat, here’s my friend Amy’s post and recipe about the Fall Mix. (Amy used to write some on this blog. She shared wonderful ideas in a column called, “Frappuccino Fun with Amy”. I still re-post her great ideas each season, and I’m hoping that one day, she’ll write for us again.)
PS: This year, it’s an especially pretty mix, because the fall M&Ms colors are just beautiful ~ lots of deep rich reds and golds!

“One of my love languages is giving. I enjoy bringing unexpected treats to un-expecting people – whether it’s my children’s teachers, neighbors, or friends. I don’t know anyone that doesn’t like to receive a gift “for no reason at all”. Last week, I made one of my favorite snack mixes and I’d like to share it with you, it’s always a big hit at this time of year! I like to call it – “FALL MIX”.”
Amy’s Fall Mix
Just mix the ingredients together in a big bowl:
1-2 Bags Candy Corn or Autumn Mix
1 Bag Indulgent Trail Mix (WalMart)
1-2 Bags M &M’s ( Halloween Colors, Plain and/or Peanut) [Jennifer here: If I can’t find those, I just pull the blue M&Ms out of the “regular” bag. The year this mix was made, the M&Ms weren’t too pretty]
1 Can Toffee Peanuts (Dollar General Store or DG Market)
1 Can Mix Nuts or Peanuts (Salted)
1 Box Sugar Babies
For around $15 you can be a blessing to many people this season! Be aware that this mix can become addictive….”
