Last week, I came across something that has already made a HUGE impact upon my life. I loved it so much that I contacted the company to tell them and asked if they would like to give one away on my blog. They were so gracious that they gave me FIVE to give away!
What is this wonderful thing? It’s the best app for Scripture memory that I’ve ever seen or used. It’s Scripture Typer! I didn’t know until I was writing this post that there is an online version for free that you can use on your computer. The app is for iPad/iPhone/iOS5 users and you can find it here: Scripture Typer app.
This memory system combines the use of three learning styles – visual, kinesthetic, and auditory. Because of this way of learning, I have been able to memorize and retain a good number of Scripture verses over the past two weeks. It is the easiest way to memorize Scripture. Besides that, it is fun!
How it works: You can type in your verse, or the app will find it for you in what ever translation you prefer. Then you can speak the verse aloud and record it. The recording will play continuously for as long as you want. As you begin to work on memorizing Scripture, you will type the first letter of each word. Somehow, this typing pattern will aid in storing the verse in your brain. I don’t know how it works… all I know is that it does work! Then, you can move to the next phase of memorizing, where you are given a few of the words and you fill in the rest. When you feel ready to master the verse/passage, you can do so. The program will then store the verse as mastered. There is a review setting where you can review typing all of the verses you’ve learned. On the computer version, you can even print out verse index cards! Where has this been all my life????
I am truly excited about this way of storing God’s Word in my heart, and I’m also excited to be giving away 5 of these apps for iOS5 products. If you don’t have an Apple “something,” then this give-away isn’t of much value to you. I’m sorry. However you can still enjoy this free program on your computer!
To enter the give away – just leave a comment on this blog post and quote your all-time favorite Bible verse (and reference). {If you are reading this via e-mail, click the words “leave a comment” at the bottom of the e-mail, and it will bring you to the comment page of this post.}

I’m heading out the door in a minute to make my way toward a weekend retreat in KY. This will be a huge weekend in God’s Word. Lots of Women’s Ministry fall retreats going on AND the Living Proof Live (Beth Moore) Simulcast events – which will reach over 150,000 women! Lets all pray for each other this weekend! May God’s Word go forth and heal and restore in every heart that absorbs it.
“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power
[making it active, operative, energizing, and effective];
it is sharper than any two edged sword,
penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life [soul]
and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow
[of the deepest parts of our nature],
exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts
and purposes of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 (Amplified)
I’m praying for you ~
I have been using this app for 11 months. I’m 61 years old and had given up on memorizing scripture till I found this app. As hard as I tried I couldn’t do it the old way. I now have 140 verses that are up to date. I use this app almost every day. If you don’t win buy the app. It is a great investment.
Jennifer please enter me in the contest to win this for my pc. Sorry can’t do the app yet but I will upgrade my phone soon. My favorite verse is. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs that it may benefit those who listen. Eph. 4:29,32 Hope your week is blessed.
Hugs
Peg
I would love an app like that — I could use it as well as my son. We memorize verses together in homeschool each day!
This is one of my current favorites 🙂
Pslam 27:4-5
One thing I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
Scripture memory has been such a blessing to me. Realized how important to be able to recall God’s promises to me through his word during a medical emergency. My favorite is Lam 3: 22. Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail, they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him?”
I stumbled on your site while looking for a study on how to study Gods word.
I went looknig around your site and found the verse Phil. 3:10 I wanted to know the will of God for my life so I was excited to look this verse up in my Bible. When I got to It I first noticed that it was high lighted and underlined. I was not ready for the experance I got when I red those words. It was like a truck running into me! This has become My new meditation day and night.
Jennifer, this app would be awesome! It sounds so helpful and I’d love it!
“And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him tdeny himself and utake up his cross vdaily and follow me. For uwhoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” -Luke 9:23-24
Oh, and I retweeted it too!
Thanks for sharing this! 🙂
One of my most favorite verses is:
Be still and know that I am God! Psalm 46:10
This verse makes me stop and think, that I need to be still, slow down, and let God take total control when I am so stressed out and feel so overwhelmed.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:2
Facebooked the app. Phil.4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Thanks for sharing.
Tweeted it as well!
Cool App! If I don’t win, I’m totally buying it- one thing I’ve been trying to do better– memorize scripture!
Psalm 37:4-5 “Delight thyself also in the Lod and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lordl trust also in himl and he shall bring it to pass.”
Sounds like a wonderful app!
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will grant you the desires of your heart”
Psalm 37:4

Working with kids in AWANA I’m amazed at how much scripture they have learned – and ashamed at how little I know. I have a lot of catching up to do!
John 10:10b – “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

My daughter is doing Bible quizzing for the first time this year….this would be so much help for her and also me!
James 1:12
Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial: for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which The Lord has promised to those who love Him.
Love that verse! Thank you, Suzanne!

I would love to put the iPhone app to good use! I have Twittered (is that really tweeted?) and posted to Facebook to spread the word.
