Hi my friends! Its almost Christmas! Are you ready? Have you already been celebrating? Do you still have a list of things to complete in the two remaining days?
This anonymous poem went around the internet years ago. Since no one knows who wrote it, I took the liberty of changing it a just a bit to make a point for myself and my family. I hope it blesses you with a smile on your face and a pause in your heart as you continue to strive to Keep Christ AS Christmas this year… and as you wrap up the last few days of preparing your heart and home (and gifts, and food, and all of those other things on your to-do lists!) 😉
Two Days Before Christmas (2015)
Two days before Christmas and all through the townNot a sign of Baby Jesus was anywhere to be found. The people were all busy with Christmas time choresLike decorating, and baking, and shopping in stores. No “Away in a manger, no crib for a bed.”Instead, songs of Santa dressed up in bright red.Mama searched Pinterest while Papa took a nap.As hour upon hour, the presents they’d wrap. When what from the T.V. did suddenly appear?A brand new add for a big sale at Sears. So away to the mall they all flew like a flash…Buying some things on credit, and others with cash! And as they made their way home from their trip to the mall,Did they think about Jesus? Oh no, not at all.Their lives were so busy with their Christmastime things. They forgot about Jesus, The Savior, The King.To pray to the Savior, they had no time to stop…Because they needed more time to “shop till they dropped!”On Wal-Mart! On K-Mart! On Target! On Penny’s!On Hallmark! On Jared’s! And a quick lunch at Denny’s.From the big stores downtown to the stores at the mall,They would dash away, dash away, and visit them all! While at home on the roof, there arose such a clatterAs Grandpa hung lights with his brand new step ladder. He hung lights that would flash. He hung lights that would twirl.Yet, he forgot Jesus… The Light of the World.Christ’s eyes… how they twinkle!Christ’s Spirit… how merry!Christ’s love… how enormous!
All our burdens… He’ll carry! He speaks Living Words, meets all of our needs,
Gifted us Life on Calvary’s tree.So instead of being busy, overworked, and uptight,
Seek Jesus this Christmas,
He’ll make your heart right.Original author of the poem is unknown. Adaptations were made by {me} Jennifer Walker. 🙂
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Mat. 6:33 (NLT)
