This is an old recipe that is new again to me. It’s from my friend Peggy, who is the ultimate example of a Homemaker, Wife, Mom, Homeschooler, and Humble Hostess of a large and busy family. God used Peggy in many ways to help me beome a better wife, mom, and homemaker. If you knew her, you’d immediately love her. 😉
Peggy uses this dough recipe for Pizza Crust, and it makes a fast, delicious one. It can also be used for Bread Sticks, Cinnamon Sticks, and the base for any type of dish that can be piled onto a crust. I was cleaning out some recipes the other day and found it. Now, it’s our new, old favorite at our house. Hope it becomes a favorite of yours, too. 🙂
Peggy’s Pizza Dough
(Makes enough for one pizza)
1 pkg. active dry yeast (or if you buy in bulk, 2 1/4 tsp.)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 cups flour (Peggy recommended freshly ground whole wheat – but who am I kidding??? So if I have it, I throw in a little wheat germ to make myself feel more home-maker-y.)
1 cup hot water
For Garlic Bread Sticks (or Twists), I add 1 tsp of garlic powder to the dry mix (along with the sugar and salt.) I slice in lengths, and sometimes shape in twists. Top with a mixture of melted butter, onion powder, garlic powder, rosemary, Italian seasoning, parm. cheese, and whatever else you can find in your cabinets. Then bake as usual.
Apple Cinnamin Sticks: Sprinkle diced apples on top of the cinnamon stick ones before you coat in butter… yumm! (Haven’t tried that yet – but plan to very soon!)
(I must confess: I found this recipe a week ago, and we’ve made it F.I.V.E. times! Last night, my 11 year old Abigail made the cinnamon sticks ALL BY HER SELF! I’m so proud of her!)
Thanks, Peggy!!!

Hey Anonymous friend~ I'm sure that little tsp of sugar left out won't change the pizza crust much at all. Hope it was delicious! 😉

Oh my does this sound good. I am going to forward this to my daughter who is always looking for something new. I don't dare try this as I see no where it works on the Jenny Craig program, haha…I got my tabs up but don't know how to link them to my previous posts?? Is there such a thing? I thought I would organize all of my posts into one of the tab categories I put up or most of them anyway…Anyway, have a good day and thanks for the recipe. HUGS

Sounds yummy! I'll give it a try. When my family was all at home I used to make 14 loaves of bread, at a the time. I never bought it, now that I am alone I have to keep one loaf in the freezer so it doesn't go moldy before I use it up!! The seasons of life!
