I’m home from a WONDERFUL trip to Oregon, made lots of new friends, had lots of new experiences {including getting a little too up-close and personal with a juniper tree} and can’t wait to sit down and share the trip with you. It is so beautiful out there, and in five days, I saw only one bug. Just ONE! Yep. No humidity and no mosquitoes and a cool breeze filtered through those snow-capped mountains… To this “hot-mama,” it seemed like Heaven on earth! {grin}
But that will have to wait until another day this week. Because today… I need to “be where I am” and get busy on the people and responsibilities presently in front of me. I often tend to lose the present in reminiscing too much about the past or in daydreaming/planning too much about the future. {Reminiscing and daydreaming are not wrong – in fact, to the one with a life lived fully in Jesus Christ, reminiscing and daydreaming with Jesus will most likely turn into a beautiful time of worship.}
However, there are those days or those moments in those days when the Lord speaks something like this into my heart:
“Dear daughter… It’s time to get up and get busy! Engage in where you are today. Focus on the people and responsibilities in front of you, and don’t squander the time I’ve given you for today. Don’t worry about the future ~ engage in today, obey me today, and trust me for yesterday and tomorrow. Today… BE exactly where you are. It’s My best place for you, or I’d place you somewhere else.”
Do you ever understand the Lord to speak something like that over your heart and life? Today feels like one of those days for me. The clock is ticking, my children are changing by the day, people I love are fighting for their lives to beat some serious physical odds, my heart is full, and my to-do list is a bit overwhelming. Yesterday’s thoughts are rolling around in my mind. Tomorrow’s plans are already shaping up. But today… Today, I am here. Where I am. Where the Lord has placed me. And He has a purpose for my life in this day. I don’t want to miss it, whatever “it” is.
And you… you are where you are. Right where God will do His best work in and through you… or else, you can trust Him that He would have changed the “where” in where you are.
Today, I love where I am and what I need to do (even though it’s a lot… I’m enjoying the things on my list.) But that’s not always the case, is it? If you aren’t thrilled with where you are today, I want to encourage you to keep obeying and trusting Jesus, and cling to Him to help you engage in where He has you for as long as He leaves you there. You are not alone. You are not helpless. God is with you. He won’t let you down. And He won’t let you go.
Today… BE where you are… In the Mighty Strength and Power of the Lord Jesus… The ONE Who is Everything and Everywhere.
To the glory of God ~ BE where you are.
“… be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” Hebrews 13:5b, Amp
