What did you get for Christmas? That seems to be the question most asked during the weeks after Christmas. As adults, we often ask this question to children as a conversation starter. And children of all ages ask it of each other. It’s fun to find out what new things were given and received during the holiday. But as I was keeping Jesus Christ AS my Christmas this year, I began to realize that I have a set of answers to “What did you get for Christmas” that beats the most lavish human list. If you belong to Jesus Christ, then you, too, received this amazing list of Christmas gifts.
This is what I got for Christmas:
- A Rock in Whom I take Refuge (Psalm 18:2)
- Complete forgiveness and absolution from my sins (1 John 1:9)
- New starts – fresh every day and every moment as I choose to surrender myself to Jesus (Lam. 3:21-25)
- Deliverance from the chains that try to bind me (Psalm 40:1-4)
- A Savior (John 3:16)
- A Friend (Luke 7:33-35)
- Peace that surpasses my ability to understand it (Phil. 4:7)
- Joy that transcends my circumstances (Phil. 4:4-8)
- Deep comfort in my sorrow (Psalm 3)
- Rest in place of fear (Ps. 56:3-4)
- Sleep (Psalm 3:5)
- Everything I need to survive in this world (Phil. 4:19)
- The hope and expectation of eternity in Heaven (John 3:15)
These are just a few things I got for Christmas. The list can go on and on…
What did you get for Christmas, my friends?
With love and thankfulness for each of you this Christmas…

This is awesome, we try not to get all caught up in the secular Christmas. We do buy each other presents but do not open them on Christmas Day. We also keep spending pretty low which I think makes it awkward for our children if they are asked what they got for Christmas. These answers are great! The true meaning!!
